February 1996, it was then decided by Mr.Sutthipong Wongnoi to be his own boss and pursue a course of conducting his own import/export business, with supports from Mr.Sermsak Ruksathip, a senior customs inspector, and Mr.Saman Patrapornnunt, a former Duputy Director of Comptroller Department of Port of Authority of Thailand . The supports did exponentially increase business potentials. In addition, Mr.Sutthipong also has 2 blood brothers, then working as employees of an import/export company, and a few other former colleagues.
With all above, on February 10, 1996, “ Prosperity Shipping co., Ltd. ” was founded with a registered capital of 1,000,000.- baht.
After 2 years in operation, it was clear that the degree of competition was so tensed and there were more and more foreign companies investing gigantically in complete logistic business, including transportation, bonded warehouse arrangement, free zones. This situation had inevitably forced Prosperity to adapt to be competitive in the market. So Prosperity shifted its focus to cross-border business and gradually developed its logistic business, in addition to its import/export activities. This was the beginning of a new company by the name of “ Prosperity Enterprise Co., Ltd. ” (PEC). PEC was founded on July 4, 2003 with a registered capital of 1,000,000.- baht, with serious study of cross-border business and establishment of relationship with immigration, customs officers and transportation contractors along the borders of our neighboring countries. Once the relationship was solidly in place, PEC then increased its registered capital to 2,000,000.- baht on June 29, 2007. This effort was supported by references with a number of international companies, f.e., Metro Machinery Co., Ltd., the sole distributor of Caterpillar in Thailand .
In this regard, Metro Machinery has been contracted to supply heavy mining machinery to a gold mining operation in Xepon, Lao PDR, and all machineries are crossing the border back and forth in Mukdaharn, in association with Lotus Hall , who is the sub contractor in Lao PDR.
PEC is also required in the field of VAT and tariff exemption for a renowned Japanese company, Sumitomo Co., Ltd., then constructing the 2 nd Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge , and SC Group, who is transporting solvents to the mentioned gold mine on behalf of Shell Co., Ltd.
As a result of the above activities, PEC established its first branch in Mukdaharn. Later, major construction projects were planned to commence in Lao PDR. One of the projects is the construction of “ Nam Ngum 2 ” Hydro Power Dam, where PEC is assisting Chor Karnchang Co., Ltd. in terms of transportation and customs formality, with the support of Caterpillar machinery by Metro Machinery Co., Ltd. .
Besides “ Nam Ngum 2 ” Hydro Power Dam Project, Metro Machinery Co., Ltd. is also in full support with projects in Pu Bia, Pu Kham, in association with Pan Australia Co., Ltd. , through the establishment of respective Free Zones and Export Processing Zones under the name of “ Metro Cat ” (PEC assisted in the establishment and necessary license applications). With these activities, PEC was driven to open its 2 nd branch in Nongkhai in order to monitor its operation in the central region of Lao PDR.
In Nakorn-Panom, PEC is coordinating the digging of overflow tunnel of “ Nam Thuen 2 ” Dam by Mitsutani Co., Ltd. in Kham Mouen. In Chong-Mek, PEC helps manage cut-down trees, tapioca and sugarcane plantation in the south of Lao PDR.
PEC is also working with its alliances in our neighboring countries in order for coordination, such as :
- In the north in Mae Sai, Chiang Khong for the transport of goods to China , Myanmar and Lao PDR,
- In the west, in Mae Sod and Aranyaprathed, for the transport of goods to Myanmar and Cambodia respectively,
- In the south, in Padang Basar, Sadao and Sungai-Kolok for the transport of goods to and from Malaysia .
